Hearth Video for Exhibit

Deborah Starker's picture

Good morning,

The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts is creating a new permanent exhibit, Working the Land: Life, Family & Change in Early 1800s New Jersey.  We have many changing exhibits, but this is the first permanent installation at METC since 1997.  We are looking for a short 20-30 second video of someone using a hearth from the mid 1800s!  You would think it would be easy to find, but not so much!!  We have tried a few but they are either too early, too late or just not the right image.  Any leads or suggestions would be very helpful!

Thank you,

Deb Starker, Executive Director, METC

Hi Deb,

The Association for Living History, Farm, and Agricultural Museums (ALHFAM) is working on an initiative to film short clips of process-oriented historic activities, trades, and crafts. There is also a Foodways group within ALHFAM that may be able to help; look at alhfam.org, or contact me offline; until June I'm one of the ALHFAM Mid-Atlantic Regional Representatives.

Best,
