OurLagosHistory.com provides access to unique and rare historical materials from the private archive of Chief Honorable Adekunle Alli, an octogenarian and public historian of Lagos, and Late Professor Olakunle Lawal, a scholar of Nigeria’s decolonization history. Since the 1960s, Alli has researched and published newspaper articles and pamphlets on Lagos history. Before his death in 2013, Lawal was a professor of history at the University of Ibadan and formerly served as a commissioner for education in Lagos State.
OurLagosHistory.com honors the contributions of Alli and Lawal to the development of Lagos historical studies by disseminating and preserving their work. This is a space where readers can discover their unpublished writings, read published work afresh, and engage with (now digitized) primary records that were collected by Alli and Lawal from Nigeria and United Kingdom archives.
Questions and comments about the collection and the project can be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org or to the coordinators, Halimat T. Somotan, email@example.com and Oluwasegun Jimoh, firstname.lastname@example.org
