Boston Children’s Museum presents Native Voices: New England Tribal Families, an introduction to native communities around New England today. By visiting five different communities from northern to southern New England, visitors learn how Native American families balance contemporary life with preservation of important cultural traditions. Muslim Art Exhibition in Providence Hosts "Opening Night" Oct. 27More Than My Religion is an art event highlighting the creative talents of the Muslim community in the Greater Boston and Rhode Island areas. Using art as a medium of expression, this community outreach effort seeks to present an alternative narrative from that commonly presented in the media - one of inclusion, passion, professionalism, community, creativity. The exhibition runs from 10/6 - 11/16 in Providence City Hall, with an "Opening Night" reception attended by the Mayor on October 27th from 5:30 - 7:30pm.
Summer 2016: Transformative Teacher Study Tour to Spain & MoroccoScholar Barbara Petzen and curriculum experts from Primary Source will guide you in studying the interconnections between Muslim-ruled Spain and Morocco across nine centuries. Study tour includes Cordoba, Granada, Chefchaouen, Fez, and Casablanca, with an optional 2-day extension to Marrakech. Open to all K-12 teachers and administrators, but particularly suited to teachers of history and art.
