American Military History Curriculum

Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me with designing curriculum for a year long class on American Military History?

In my district, the actual class is called:  Peace and Conflict Studies and it is an elective.  Being an elective there is not curruclum, standards/benchmarks, pacing guides and teacher resources available.  I wanted to teach American Military History but my district only allows classes that are currently in the curriculum so my Administration said use the P and C Studies class to teach AMH since it is an elective and therefore I could do anything I want.

So, bottom line.  Is there anyone here who has taught a year long AMH class and can help me out and are willing to share?

Thanks

John,
If you haven’t done so, you might want to cross post your request at H-War. Sorry I can’t offer any better help.

I have taught an American Mil Hist class for a semester. However it could easily fit into a year. How many days a week? I have several ideas I have used (and use in my current World Conflict class). Let me know. Feel free to contact me directly.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for responding.

In my school we are on a A/B schedule. I have my odd period classes one week and then my even period classes the next and it follows that pattern for the whole school year; our weeks start on Thursday and end the following Wednesday. The class in question is my 3rd period and I have 21 days with them before the first semester ends.

I can be reached at: rotatj@nv.ccsd.net

Thanks,
