Elaine Nelson, executive director of the Western History Association, has shared the sad news of the death of our colleague, friend, and stalwart of the WHA and Coalition for Western Women's History, Paula Petrik.

A personal note: I met Paula Petrik when I was a grad student at the University of Utah. Paula came to speak to another class, and we went together to the LDS Family History Library to chase down sources for some of the women she wrote about in Helena. On the drive and at the library, Paula gave me excellent, specific research advice (i.e., orders) for my own work. She was smart, funny, and a joy to be around, and I will miss talking and laughing with her at WHA.
