The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) invites applications for its 2015-16 visiting academic fellowships. At least three AAS-National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships will be awarded for periods extending from four to twelve months. Long-term fellowships are intended for scholars beyond the doctorate; senior and mid-career scholars are particularly encouraged to apply. Over thirty short-term fellowships will be awarded for one to two months.
Created from the holdings of the American Antiquarian Society, Early American Newspapers, Series 11, 1803-1899, will offer online access to more than 130 newspapers covering wide-ranging facets of U.S. history, culture and daily life. Created for students and scholars in diverse academic disciplines, Series 11 significantly extends the political and geographical breadth and depth of the 10 previous series of Early American Newspapers, 1690-1922.

Curran Fellowships for Research on the 19th-century British Press
The annual Symposium on the 19th Century Press, the Civil War, and Free Expression will be held at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga November 6-8. All paper sessions (see detailed schedule below) are free and open to the public.
The symposium is sponsored by the West Chair of Excellence, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga communication and history departments, the Walter and Leona Schmitt Family Foundation Research Fund, and the Hazel Dicken-Garcia Fund for the Symposium.
