The Center for 21st Century Studies (C21) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites proposals for papers and presentations for our Ends of Cinema conference, to be held May 3-5, 2018.
Media Movements: Civil Society and Media Policy Reform in Latin America by María Soledad Segura and Silvio Waisbord has won the AEJMC-Knudson Latin America Prize 2017. Granted by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the annual award is given to a book or project concerning Latin America or coverage of issues in Latin America and must make an original contribution to improve knowledge about Latin America to U.S. students, journalists or the public.

Call for Proposals: Refocus: The Films of Paul Leni
Registration is now open for the Newspaper and Periodical History Forum of Ireland's (NPHFI) 2017 conference '"Fake News!": An Historical Perspective' that takes place at Newcastle University, UK, on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November.
This year's conference features two very exciting keynotes from Prof. James Curran (Goldsmiths, University of London) on 'The moral decline of the British press' and Prof. Aled Gruffyd Jones (Panteion University, Athens), 'Is news fake? A long view'.
I am working on a panel submission for the upcoming International Communication Association (ICA) conference in Prague, May 24 - 28, 2018 (https://www.icahdq.org/). The conference's theme of Voices encourages scholars to submit scholarship that discusses voice vis-a-vis various discourses, actors, processes, and outcomes.
