CfP: Lagos Studies Association (LSA) Panels at the ASA-UK meeting, University of Birmingham, September 11-13, 2018

The Lagos Studies Association (LSA) is organizing panels at the conference of the African Studies Association of the United Kingdom, which will be held at the University of Birmingham, September 11-13, 2018. The organizers of the conference have accepted our proposed thematic streams (see below). If you would like to present a paper based on any of these streams, send a 250-word abstract to Oliver Coates (orc20@cam.ac.uk) by September 1, 2017.

A. Histories of Lagos (since the precolonial era)

B. Contemporary Lagos (urban and development studies / economics / education / public health / law / conflict resolution)

C. Lagos Cultures (Nollywood / literature / language / women, gender, and sexuality)

D.  Religions in Lagos (African / Christianity / Islam / religions and spirituality)

E. Lagos and its waters (maritime / ocean / slum clearance)
