The Sci-Fi Airshow

Welcome to "It Came From the Internet," our new feature! Each week the intrepid crew of the H-PCAACA will venture boldly into the internet to find interesting and offbeat sites relating to American, world, and popular culture.

From the files of the "what if never-was" our first spotlight is on the Sci-Fi Airshow, a site that purports to be a museum of classic science fiction spacecraft from programs such as Space: 1999, Battlestar Galactica, and Land of the Giants. The site treats the spacecraft featured in its pages as actual air (and space) worthy vehicles constructed for use by their respective shows. Playing it straight, the site uses clever photoshops and testimony from visitors to present its fiction. 

The Sci-Fi Airshow combines a lot of fan concepts from extrapolating off fictional canon to the desire to collect and preserve items from a seemingly uncaring corporate structure. It is a different way to consider the vehicles of science fiction, as real machines built for fictional purposes, with fates that parallel most movie props. While the last update to the site was undated, it seems the Sci-Fi Airshow is no longer being actively updated--a hazard in the world of fandom where other concerns can trump personal pursuits. In any event, its a interesting place to spend a few minutes of your web surfing time.  Make sure to take the guided tour!

Through display and education we seek to celebrate the classic design and beauty of these ships and the rich imaginations that created them.
