My name is Anastasia Day, and I am the current president of the Graduate Association of Food Studies [and member of H-Nutrition]. I am writing to inform you about our upcoming conference and invite graduate students to submit papers. If you could forward this to your graduate student community, it would be much appreciated. Below you will find an abbreviated Call for Papers; please feel free to distribute as widely as you wish. You can view the complete CFP online here: https://gradfoodstudies.org/future-of-food-studies-2018-cfp/
In addition to the upcoming conference, we have many other opportunities for graduate students, including:
-Students can apply to be peer reviewers or book reviewers for our journal
-We are interested in articles for peer review (4000-7500 words)
-We are also interested in shorter-form online writing (called Food Stuff), which typically has a timely hook and/or is visually-oriented
Our editorial team takes seriously a pedagogical mandate to work with contributors through what is often their first publication. Please email me back with any questions and check https://gradfoodstudies.org for more information.
Future of Food Studies 2018 CFP
The Graduate Association for Food Studies is pleased to announce the third annual Future of Food Studies graduate student conference, to be held 4-6 October 2018, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Additionally, a select number of papers will be considered for publication in the Graduate Journal of Food Studies, a peer-reviewed graduate journal for food-related research.
Proposals (papers or full panels) should be submitted by 6 July 2018, and must include an abstract (250 words) and a biographical statement (100 words).
Thanks to generous funding from the Association for the Study of Food and Society and our other sponsors, modest support may be available in some cases to partially subsidize travel expenses of some conference participants. We will consider all applications and candidates fully, though those traveling from afar will take precedence in the allotment of funds.
