CALL FOR PAPERS

AFRICA PEACE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FOUNDATION FOR SPORT DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE

2ND AFRICA PEACE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

THEME:                            ‘INTER-DISCIPLINARY PEACE RESEARCH COMMISSION’

LOCATION:             CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

DATE:                        18 – 20TH SEPTEMBER 2019

African Peace Research and Education Association (APFREA) is extending a Call for Papers for the upcoming ‘Inter-Disciplinary Peace Research Commission’ in Cape Town, South Africa.

Freedom from violence and the fear of violence are simple components that define Human Security. In this context preference is given to the individual rather than the state while focusing on improvement of livelihoods and dignity of individuals and communities. Human Security thus strengthens human development in order to achieve peace and endure progress which is essential to a stable national security. Positive progress may not be achieved unless all the established national/state policies are continuously monitored and implemented effectively. Thus Human Security and Governance must work in tandem.  To this end, a multi-dimensional outlook towards addressing the threats to peace and stability in emerging African economies and elsewhere across the globe is hoped to be discussed by distinguished presenters and participants at the conference.

The regional conference shall afford peace researchers and educators the opportunity to explore thematic issues, strategies, tactics, and tools so as to design a comprehensive plan to support peace advocacy actions. The aim is to synergise efforts at national, regional and global levels toward just peace and prevention of atrocious crimes in Africa.

Overall Objective

  • To enable peace researchers, scholars and practitioners from the African continent and elsewhere to converge and share on their experiences and practice on socio-economic and political structures of development and governance and their effect on peace stability hence participate in reconstructing the image of Africa.
