CFP: Southern Jewish Historical Society Conference: Space and Place in Southern Jewish History, Oct 20-22, 2023

This year SJHS's annual conference will be hosted by Rice University’s Program in Jewish Studies and the Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives in Houston, Texas from October 20-22, 2023. The theme seeks to understand how physical spaces—neighborhoods, borders, boundaries, and the built environment—have shaped southern Jewish history.

Texas State Historical Association Announces 22-23 Awards Cycle

The Texas State Historical Association announces its 2022-2023 cycle of awards and research fellowships. These awards will support research into a range of special topics related to the history of Texas and its peoples. Applications are due on or before November 15, 2022.

Announcing the Texas Oral History Locator Database (TOLD)!

 

A new statewide initiative of the Texas Oral History Association (TOHA) and the Baylor University Institute for Oral History (BUIOH) seeks to create a publicly-accessible listing of all known oral history collections in Texas thanks to a new project called the Texas Oral History Locator Database, or TOLD.

Since our creation almost 30 years ago, our networks have built many resources designed to support research and teaching of history, humanities, and social sciences. In August 2022, H-Net will host an online conference on teaching which we hope will be the first among many more such events.

Texas State University in San Marcos will be hosting a regional student history conference on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Both undergraduate and graduate students working any area of history are encouraged to submit abstracts; you do not need to be a member of Phi Alpha Theta.
