Call for Papers (2)

Deadline: March 3, 2014

"Flannery O'Connor and Her Heirs"

The Flannery O'Connor regular session seeks proposals for
presentations on literary relationships between O'Connor and
subsequent American writers.  Examples of possible approaches include
studies of specific related works, introductions of new writers
influenced by O'Connor, broader considerations of O'Connor's place in
or influence on the development of American literature, and
explorations of specific personal interactions between O'Connor and
other authors, or between authors responding to O'Connor's influence.
Proposals related to genres other than fiction, as well as relevant
creative work, are welcome also.  Please email abstracts and either a
cover letter or 2-page CV by March 3, 2014, to Tara Powell at
tfpowell@gmail.com. For further information about the conference,
consult the RMMLA website at http://www.rmmla.org/.

"When a Syllabus Goes South"

The Society for the Study of Southern Literature affiliate session
seeks proposals for presentations on the best southern writers you
haven't been seeing on the syllabus lately.  Examples of possible
approaches include considerations of relevant writers' positions in
American literature courses or anthologies, studies of specific works
or writers associated with the region, reports on specific teaching
experiences, or cases for attention to seminal but under-read works.
Please email abstracts and either a cover letter or 2-page CV by March
3, 2014, to Tara Powell at tfpowell@gmail.com. For further information
about the conference, consult the RMMLA website at
