I am an independent researcher based in the north of Scotland with an interest in the involvement of Scots in the slave trade and slave plantations of the Caribbean and South America, especially Guyana and Suriname. My recent research has led me to correctly identify - for the first time, I believe - the Robert Sutherland who has been described as 'Un Amigo de Bolivar en Haiti'.
I have prepared this in a draft artice and also in a short, popular format (which I have used to introduce the topic in some discusssions in Scotland).
I'd be grateful for comments on either of these - and on whether or not the article might be of interest in a wider forum. I am a novice in Haitian studies so any help and criticism gratefully received.
