H-Afro-Am Blog: The Slave’s Cause and Abolition’s Presence

In a recent blog post published by H-Afro-Am, Julia Bernier offers thought provoking reflections on Manisha Sinha’s recent book, The Slave’s Cause: A History of Abolition. Bernier believes that Sinha does well to highlight abolitionists’ uncompromising demands for social transformation, and that in so doing Sinha suggests links between past and present social movements. Like white and black abolitionists, Bernier argues, Black Lives Matter activists want “to expand and imagine a new, meaningful, and lasting liberation.” You can read Julia Bernier’s full blog post here.
