2 JOBS: Buddhist Art History and Conservation, The Courtauld, London
Dear colleagues,
The Courtauld Institute of Art in London is currently running two searches for scholars focusing on art of the Buddhist world: one in History of Art (https://jobs.courtauld.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=444) and one in Conservation (https://jobs.courtauld.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=445). Both searches are for appointments at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level (roughly equivalent to Assistant or Associate Professor in the North American system). Applications are open to all regions, periods and subspecialties within Buddhist Art History, including those working trans-culturally/nationally.
The two hires will help develop and lead our new MA in Buddhist Art and Conservation, as well as contributing to BA teaching and PhD supervision. They will join a growing cohort of scholars focusing on Asia, including those in early modern China and Persia, as well as one of the world’s leading departments of conservation education. Although we are not advertising regions of particular interest, as a field that is not currently represented amongst the Courtauld Faculty, applications from specialists in Southeast Asia and/or the Indo-Pacific world would be warmly welcomed.
This is a really exciting period of growth and change at the Courtauld and a wonderful opportunity to develop and lead an innovative graduate program with both a strong grounding in material works of art and sites and active engagement in leading theoretical approaches to the field.
We would be very grateful to you for considering your own application or sharing these opportunities widely with interested colleagues and amongst your networks, as appropriate.
With best wishes
Stephen Whiteman
