Dear colleagues,

I’m happy to let you know that beginning on Monday, July 12, 2021, the Library of Congress’ Asian Reading Room reopened for a limited number of registered readers by appointment only.

Registered readers must make advance appointments to use the Library’s reading rooms. Appointments are available Monday through Friday in the morning (9:30am12:30pm) and afternoon (1:00pm–4pm). To make Asian Reading Room appointments, please email us through Ask a Librarian or call 202-707-5426.

Before making an appointment, researchers should review Pandemic Information for Researchers page, including information on renewing or obtaining new Library of Congress Reader Identification Cards and the Library’s health and safety protocols.

The Library has also resumed its interlibrary loan services. Researchers can go through their public library or university library to borrow from us. For more information see https://www.loc.gov/rr/loan/.

More information about the Asian collections at the Library of Congress could be found here.

We’re looking forward to welcoming researchers back to our reading room – see you soon!

I realize many of you are subscribed to other lists; sorry if you have already seen it elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Joshua Kueh
