The Instituto de Cervantes is pleased to invite you to a awebinar titled "Today, 500 years ago, the Pacific Ocean was baptized. The Strait of Magellan." It will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 6 PM.
During the famous expedition that circumnavigated the world, on November 28, 1521, the three remaining ships of that voyage commanded by Ferdinand Magellan completed the crossing of the Strait of Magellan. What would be the first voyage in the history to cross the ocean, which they named the Pacific Ocean, began on that day.
The speakers are Braulio Vazquez of the General Archives of the Indies, Filipino historian Danilo Gerona, and the Ambassador of Chile to the Philippines, HE Rojas Claudio Rachel. The webinar will be held in Spanish and English with simultaneous translation in both languages.
