The History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) at California State University, Long Beach is pleased to announce a call for papers for its fifth annual conference that will examine transnationalism and migration. The conference is intended to offer graduate students the opportunity to present original research and promote interdisciplinary and innovative scholarship. The conference aims to provide new insight into migration, identities, discourse, ideologies, refugees, and diasporas. All fields are welcome. The conference will be held via Zoom on Friday, November 19th.

Submission Requirements:

The History Graduate Student Association encourages graduate students who study migration and transnationalism across disciplines to submit 250-300 word abstracts and 50-75 word bios in pdf format to csulb.hgsa@gmail.com with the subject “Conference Submission.” We ask that you not submit any papers that do not fit within this theme. Your abstract should include your argument, methodology, theoretical underpinnings, historiography, and evidence (where applicable), and a sentence on how you understand your paper to fit into the theme of the conference. Your biographies should include your name, research field, and any pertinent information (research interests, etc.) that you would like to be read when your conference panel is introduced.

All proposals are due by November 5th and those accepted will be informed by November 9th.
