New Editor for H-Scholar

Margaret DeLacy Discussion

Friends:

I am delighted to be writing to say that we have a new editor on the H-Scholar board.  Sandra Ham has completed the H-Net training and been approved by the H-Net board and she is beginning as an editor this week.  I am so happy to welcome her on board!

Sandra is an Independent Scholar who writes about religion, science, culture and the public square in the spirit of intellectuals who were influential a century ago, such as C. S. Lewis. She is taking a novel approach to some of the most intractable issues around environmental change and sustainability. With a background in mechanical engineering, nutrition and physical activity, and divinity, and experience in industry, government, and academia, she brings a rich, multidisciplinary perspective to some big questions. She approaches them by considering high-level issues in science, religion, history, philosophy, and culture. She is active in professional communities of theologians, scientist-theologians, and independent scholars. Besides being an Indepedent Scholar, she is a Senior Statistician, currently working at the University of Chicago in the Center for Health and the Social Sciences.

Welcome Sandra!
It's clear from your background that you have independent chops!
The issues underlying scholarly work nowadays, whether inside or outside academia, seem to get broader day by day, like most other issues in the world. Broader on one hand and more technical on the other. Margaret has done such excellent work reporting/editing as an independent on these issues for H-Scholar, from its very beginning, and, in the process, assisting with the growth of H-Net. We look forward, Sandra, to your new contributions, based on your clearly wide personal skills and interests, to the ongoing talk among scholars of all stripes as we examine the values and practices of our trade.
Best, Barbara Currier Bell
