ROSTA posters enquiry

Iva Glisic's picture

Dear colleagues,

I am looking for a ROSTA poster designed by Vladimir Mayakovsky that I would like to include in a publication. I would really appreciate any advice or information about any collections of these posters, or how I might be able to contact relevant institutions to obtain an electronic copy of the poster and the associated publishing rights.

Thank you!

Iva

Dear Iva,
there is a very large collection of ROSTA posters at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, donated in the early 1990s by Merrill C. Berman. A book about the collection, Power to the People, ed. Alex Ward, was published by Ashgate in 2007.
best wishes,
Sarah

Dear Sarah,
Thank you very much for this information, I really appreciate it!
Kind regards,
Iva

Hi Iva,

The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University has a number of Mayakovsky's ROSTA posters: http://search.library.yale.edu/catalog?&f%5Bformat%5D%5B%5D=Images&q=ros...

The poster text is transcribed in each bibliographic record. If you see the one you need, you may make a request for a publication image on the Beinecke's website: http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/research/ordering-reproductions

Hope this helps,
-Anna

Thank you very much Yelena, I really appreciate your help!

Thank you Anna, I'll get in touch with the The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library!

Dear Iva,

If you don't find what you need in the Israel Museum book or at the Beinecke, you might contact the good folks in charge of Merrill Berman's collection, as he has ROSTA posters that he didn’t donate.

Dear Iva,

At my institute, The International Institute of Social History, we have 10 original ROSTA posters. We recently dedicated a small web-exhibition to them:

If you click on the images, you get the inventory number with which you can find them in our online catalogue, and order reproductions. Let me know if you need any further help.

With kind regards,
