We are very excited to welcome Ms. Kelli Lemaster as our new intern here with the Kentucky Woman Suffrage Project. Her work this spring is for three hours of academic credit, sponsored by Dr. Melanie Goan in the UK History Department. She describes her plans as following:

My name is Kelli Lemaster and I am from Louisa, Kentucky, which is a very small town in the eastern part of the state. The Indiana Association of Historians announce the 2017 Thornbrough Lecture: Professor Robyn C. Spencer, "Recovering the History of the Black Panther Party in the Era of #BlackLivesMatter." The lecture will be at Butler University's Robertson Hall on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 7:00 PM. A reception will be held before the lecture at 6 PM. Prof. Wendy Gamber will be the featured speaker at the twenty-seventh Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Indiana State Archives on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in the Indiana State Library (315 West Ohio Street).  She will discuss her latest book, The Notorious Mrs. Clem: Murder and Money in the Gilded Age (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016).

Long known as the Cold Spring Murders, which occurred shortly after the Civil War in Indianapolis, at the center of the case was a woman active in business.  Authorities charged her with murder.  A

Wisconsin Content Now Available on Chronicling America

The Wisconsin Historical Society is pleased to announce that the first batch of Wisconsin newspapers are now available on the Library of Congress historic newspaper site Chronicling America. Currently available is the Wood County Reporter of Grand Rapids, 1858-02-17 to  1890-03-13 with more of this title to come shortly. The newspapers are freely accessible, full text searchable, and downloadable.

Over the next several months approximately 100,000 pages of Wisconsin newspapers will be added to the Chronicling America site as part of the National Digital Newspaper Program. Learn more about the
