How to get from Mosul to Cyprus in the 1950s?

Dear all,

I have a student who is writing a historical novel as her graduation project about a young Jewish woman from Baghdad in the early 1950s who leaves Iraq and is trying to get to Jerusalem. She asked me what route someone at that time would be most likely follow to go from Mosul to Cyprus. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
