H-Transnational German Studies provides a moderated interdisciplinary network for the discussion of topics relevant to the study of the German diaspora and intercultural transfer between German and non-German societies from the 17th century to the present. H-TGS was formerly H-GAGCS (German-American and German-Canadian Studies). Its archives are available here.

Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships

The GHI awards short-term fellowships to European and North American doctoral students as well as postdoctoral scholars to pursue research projects that draw upon primary sources located in the United States. We are particularly interested in research projects that fit into the following fields: German and European history, the history of German-American relations, and the role of Germany and the USA in international relations. These fellowships are also available to European doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars in the field of American history.

Book Reviewers Needed

Dear H-TGS subscribers,

We are currently looking for book reviewers for H-TGS. Transnational German Studies is an interdisciplinary list aimed at those interested in German speakers in the Americas and Europe outside the boundaries of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as well as those interested in studies of German imperialism and the flows connecting central Europe to other parts of the globe. The editors are seeking to relaunch the list with a series of reviews of recent works. Reviewers will hold doctorates in relevant disciplines or be advanced graduate students.

H-TGS Relaunch

Dear subscribers,

H-Transnational German Studies has been quiet for a while, but we are hoping to relaunch the network as a site for scholarly interaction, reviews, and networking across disciplinary lines.
