Call for Nominations for the NASSS Book Award

The North American Society for the Sociology of Sport is seeking nominations for the NASSS Outstanding Book Award.

Nomination policy:

a. Nominated books must be scholarly analyses of a sport-related issue or phenomenon, written from a sociological, anthropological, or related perspective. 

b. Nominated books must have a printed publication date of 2013.

c. Edited collections and textbooks are not eligible for the award.

d. Books written by authors who are not NASSS members are eligible to be nominated.

ANN: Cornell Lecturer Speaks on Tennis-Great Arthur Ashe

Arthur Ashe, the only black man ever to win the singles title at Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open – and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom – will be the topic of the Cornell's 2014 Harold Seymour Lecture in Sports History. Award-winning scholar Ray Arsenault will talk on "Shadow Man: The Life and Times of Arthur Ashe," at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 24th in 165 Statler Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.
