Soyuz is formally constituted as the Post-Communist Cultural Studies Interest Group of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) and is also recognized as an official unit of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies (AAASS).

On behalf of Soyuz, I want to formally congratulate and thank Neringa Klumbyte for a job very well done with this year's Soyuz symposium.  A special thanks to Karen Dawisha and the Havighurst Center for allowing Soyuz to be part of the annual Young Researchers' conference.  I believe that we all left feeling intellectually engaged, challenged and inspired.  The program you put together on the topic of justice covered a wide range of ways to think of (in)justice and could not have been more timely.  Thank you for helping us continue our rich tradition of the Soyuz symposiu

CfP: Soyuz AAA Panel Post-socialisms

Soyuz invites submissions for participation in its sponsored panel at the Annual Meeting of the American Anthropological Association, to be held in Washington DC (Dec 3-7, 2014). The theme of this panel is theory and discourse across post-socialisms. We welcome all paper proposals that address this theme, broadly defined. Proposals that address current research or other thematically relevant issues beyond the Post-Soviet sphere are particularly encouraged.
