Re: Accessible reading on Conspicuous Consumption?

You may want to consider all or part of Kristin Hoganson's Consumers' Imperium: The Global Production of American Domesticity, 1865-1920.  It's an excellent read and gets at a lot of dimensions of conspicuous consumption (as well as other issues, of course).
