Welcome to H-SHGAPE, the online forum of the Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era and one of the founding networks on H-NET. H-SHGAPE seeks to encourage the study of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era through its network and online resources.
H-SHGAPE was originally developed and maintained by Dr. Patrick Reagan, who deserves credit for assembling its wealth of information. Thanks are also due to Dr. Katherine Osburn (Editor-in-Chief, 2000-2016) and to the numerous GAPE scholars whose contributions in the form of syllabi, bibliographies, essays, and reviews make H-SHGAPE an invaluable resource for students and teachers.
Dear H-Net Community,
Dear H-SHGAPE Subscribers
The editors of the SHGAPE Blog would first like to thank all our contributors to our first blog series on the 1918 Influenza (our final essay will soon be posted, stay tuned!) and to all of you who read them & shared them out on social media. I would also like to thank all of our Blog editors, who you can meet here.
SHGAPE is soliciting submissions for our Graduate Student Essay Prize. The Graduate Student Essay prize is awarded annually for the best article of journal article length written by a graduate student on a Gilded Age and/or Progressive Era topic. The winner of the prize will receive $250, and the winning essay will be considered for publication in the Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. The winner will also be honored at the annual SHGAPE luncheon at the OAH.
The Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era is still accepting submissions for its inaugural competition for the H. Wayne Morgan Book Prize and its biennial competition for the Vincent P. DeSantis Book Prize.
