The Herbert L. Poole Award, sponsored by the North Carolina Friends Historical Society, is for an outstanding paper on a topic in southern Quaker history. Herbert Poole was the long-time director of the Guilford College Hege Library and editor of The Southern Friend: Journal of the North Carolina Friends Historical Society. Both amateur and professional historians are invited to apply.
