H-Genocide is a network for professional scholars, survivors of genocide, authors, historians and other interested people working in genocide studies and related fields, e.g. U.S., European, African, S. The USC Shoah Foundation Center for Advanced Genocide Research invites applications from senior scholars for its 2014-2015 Center Research Fellow. The fellowship provides $30,000 support and will be awarded to an outstanding candidate from any discipline who will advance genocide research through the use of the Visual History Archive (VHA) of the USC Shoah Foundation and other USC resources. The incumbent will spend one semester in residence at the USC Shoah Foundation Center for Advanced Genocide Research during the 2014-2015 academic year.

I am teaching a history&film course titled Genocide/Mass Killing in the Modern World. Among other readings, I plan to use the Totten and Parsons edited book for background/info on specific cases of genocide. Has anyone prepared reading quiz questions based on chapters in this book (or perhaps on the whole book) that you are willing to share with me? I will cite the source if you wish.

The wonders of OKC are described as reflecting a "collision of cultures more than one hundred years ago."
Indeed. I wonder how the Chickaw would have described that "collision" in the 1830s?

Just wondering if anyone out there is interested in the under researched Holocaust experience of Robert Briscoe; a Dublin-born Jew who was the only T.D. (M.P.) in an overwhelmingly Catholic-nationalist 1930s and 1940s Irish political culture. He was a founding member of Eamon de Valera's constitutional nationalist Fianna Fáil party in 1926; this followed a senior role as a an IRA activist in the War of Independence where he was based in Berlin as a gun-runner.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies invites applications for a workshop, New Research on Roma and the Holocaust, scheduled for September 15-18, 2014. The program will consist of three days of consultation and discussion of participants’ research, followed by a day-long public symposium.
The Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Kean University is Inviting applications for the fall, 2014, semester. The program is one of three of its kind in the United States and the one closest to New York City, a center of human rights activity.
