SYM: New Scholarship on the Black Atlantic

The History Department of the University of Utah will host a two-day symposium entitled “New Scholarship on the Black Atlantic” on October 2-3, 2015. We welcome proposals for papers that address transnational connections and diasporic identities from scholars who enter the study of the Black Atlantic from a variety of geographical locations, including Africa, the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean. Although we encourage those working in an interdisciplinary mode to apply, preference will be given to scholars whose primary training is in History.

Query: sources on Syrian employees of the French Mandate

For a conference paper I am preparing, I am looking for citations for (published) primary and secondary sources on Syro-Lebanese employees of the French Mandate in Syria and Lebanon.  I realize that the principal archival sources on this topic are in the MAE archives at Nantes, but unfortunately I will be unable to go there before I need to complete the paper.  Nevertheless, if anyone can point me to the correct fonds to investigate when I do have occasion to go, I’d appreciate help with that as well.
