The Journal of the History of Ideas and the University of Pennsylvania invite graduate students to propose papers for this intensive one-day interdisciplinary symposium on “Reception? Challenging and Defending Canons.”

Papers on emotions and their impact on visual representations of identities or in identity making practices in Europe are welcomed! Papers dealing with emotional reception of visual discursive representations of migration and/or displacement, feelings of Europeaness and belonging, emotive evaluations of inclusion/exclusion nexuses are valuable contributions to the conferemce.
