The following post stems from a discussion at the ARNOVA annual meeting, held in November 2015. The discussion aimed to commemorate the work of Peter Dobkin Hall and focused on history and the studies of voluntary action and the nonprofit sector. Central to this discussion was the idea that the nonprofit sector was created in a specific historical context, or as Hall put it, invented. Members of the panel included, Greg Witkowski (chair), Kathi Badertscher, David Hammack, Carl Milofsky, Barb Shubinski, and Ben Soskis. We invite you to join this discussion.
