The German Historical Institute Washington invites applications for fellowships on „Innovation through Migration” at its Pacific Regional Office in Berkeley. Each year, the fellowship program offers two senior scholars (tenured professors) the opportunity to visit Berkeley for 4 to 12 weeks. There, they contribute to the Pacific Office’s research focus on the histories of migrant knowledge. Senior scholars should be professors or associate professors in North America or in Europe who have published their second book (i.e. Habilitation).
The GHI's Pacific Office awards research fellowships in Latin American history to doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars from Europe and the Americas to pursue research projects that draw upon primary sources principally located in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are particularly interested in research projects in the following fields:
Latin American history
Pan American history
The history of European-Latin American relations
The GHI's Pacific Office awards research fellowships in Asian-Pacific history to doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars from Europe, Asia, Oceana, and North America to pursue research projects that draw upon primary sources principally located in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are particularly interested in research projects in the following fields:
Asian history, broadly defined
History of the Pacific Rim, including Western expansion to the Pacific
History of Trans-Pacific relations
