The German Historical Institute Washington is proud to announce the second round of the fellowship program “Innovation through Migration” at its Pacific Regional Office in Berkeley, GHI West. The fellowship program offers up to three senior scholars per year the chance to come to Berkeley to help shape the emerging Center for the History of Migration and Knowledge which is being established at GHI West. Senior scholars should have a tenured position (Professor or Associate Professor) or have published their second book (i.e. Habilitation) and be based in North America or Europe.

‘The Modern Jewess: Image and Text’
One chapter is required on the subject of South Asian Literature for an edited collection entitled 'Women and Water in Global Literature'. The chapter will be a maximum of 8,000 words, to be submitted in full by April 2019. The focus must be on women's writing, and on any relevant interpretation of 'water' within it. This is for an edited collection which is largely complete, but needs this one further chapter for reasons of geographical/ cultural coverage. A contract has been signed for the volume with a major publishing house and publication is anticipated by 1st Jan 2020.
