The Image on the Page: A Study Day Around Illustrated Print Culture / Call for Papers

This study day aims to gather researchers around the subject of the printed image since the 1880s. A significant milestone of this era was the widespread implementation of halftone printing, a photomechanical process that eventually enabled the reproduction of subtle hues and gradients in publications with large-scale print runs.
Paper abstracts are invited for a panel entitled "Femininities and Masculinities under Nationalisms" at the Northeast Modern Language Association Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, March 7-10 2024.
The Colonial Society of Massachusetts invites submissions for the Whitehill Prize in Early American HIstory. The prize recognizes a distinguished scholarly essay in American history to 1825 with $2500 and publication in The New England Quarterly. Essays must be previously unpublished and may address any aspect of the early history of New England.

The International Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization is pleased to announce that the ongoing Workshop on University Teaching of Hebrew Language is now accepting applications for this year’s session.
Funded by the Association of Southeast Asian Studies' Research Impact Award, Drive to School is a short film that documents the motivations of young Christian missionaries Charles and Ai who are striving to bring education and hope to Cambodia’s stateless children. Moved by witnessing the vulnerability to prostitution these children face to make ends meet, they attempt to offer alternative routes to learning and employment. Not without challenges along the way.
