From humble beginnings, fantasy sports have grown into a cultural phenomenon in which more than 57 million North Americans now participate. Given their immense popularity, however, the scholarly attention dedicated to them remains modest by comparison, particularly in the humanities. The vast majority of research done on fantasy sports derives from the social sciences and generally focuses on legal, economic, and sports management issues.

Aiming at submitting scientific interdisciplinary studies on the Eurasian region to the academic world, Journal of Eurasian Studies has been published within The Research Institute of Turcology at Istanbul University. AVID, an international peer-reviewed journal, involves several areas of research ranging from sociology to law, economics, literature, cultural studies, politics and history.
