Dear Colleagues,

 

The St. George Tucker Society, an interdisciplinary scholarly organization dedicated to the study of the American South, is proud to announce its annual M. E. Bradford Dissertation Prize. The award recognizes the best dissertation focused on the South, any time period and any discipline. The prize carries a $1,000 award and travel assistance may be available to the recipient to discuss the project at the Society’s annual meeting. Attendance at the July 26-28, 2018 meeting in Jackson, Mississippi is mandatory for receipt of the prize.  

SAMLA Panel: The Holocaust in Literature and Film

This SAMLA panel invites papers on representations of the Holocaust in 20th and 21st-century texts or films. Topics might include but are not limited to examination of second and third generation Holocaust writers, use of the Holocaust as metaphor, children's and YA lit about the Holocaust, portrayal of survivors in Holocaust films, and resistance movements within camps or ghettos. Paper proposals addressing the SAMLA 90 theme, “Fighters from the Margins: Socio-Political Activists and Their Allies,” are especially welcome.
