It publishes essays, short notices, and reviews; engaging in current debates and reflecting the status quo of the disciplines covered. Postdoctoral Fellow in Humanities (Andrew W. Mellon Fellows)
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has announced a major grant to the Asian University for Women in Chittagong (Bangladesh) to create and support a new Humanities major that will combine Literature, History, Philosophy and Comparative Religion, supported by extracurricular activities in music, dance, photography and the visual arts.
The Center for American Institutions (CAI) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research scholars and teaching fellows in political history, and/or political institutions to begin Fall 2024. Preference will be given to candidates whose doctoral degree is in history, political science, philosophy, religious studies or related fields. The position is for a full-time, benefits-eligible, fiscal-year (July 1-June 30) appointment.
The Medieval Institute at the University of Notre Dame invites applicants for a one-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Medieval Studies. This Fellowship is designed for junior faculty who currently hold a position in a North American university as an assistant professor. It is open to qualified applicants in all fields of Medieval Studies. The fellowship holder will pursue research in residence at Notre Dame's famed Medieval Institute during the academic year (this is a nine-month position).
Garrick notes that “the use of humor appears to be a beneficial addition to the treatment of trauma survivors” (2006, 170). Trauma has been discussed within various literary works and at times humour has been used to elaborate on traumatic situations. This happens because humour can give the authors the chance to criticize the various types of abuses and plights in non-confrontational ways.
