CFP: Literature and its “Other” Traditions
Dear colleagues,
This is a gentle reminder that the symposium Reality and the Modern Japanese Language: Linguistics, Literature, and Film (近代の日本語とリアリティ: 言語学、文学、 映画) will take place in person at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies on December 10, 2023, and we look forward to seeing many of you there! Talks by prof. Nomura Takashi and prof. Hidaka Yoshiki will be followed by a performance and explanation of 1916 movie Ukiyo by benshi/ film narrator Kataoka Ichirō. The talks and performance will be in Japanese, but English explanations will also be offered.
The SCWH Graduate Connections Committee Presents: "Fellowships 101"
Northwest Archivists invites session proposals for the NWA 2024 Annual Meeting! The conference will be held in Spokane, Washington, May 8-10, 2024. The deadline for submissions is December 8, 2023.
Mashriq & Mahjar: Journal of Middle East and North African Studies is pleased to share its latest published issue, "Vocabularies of Travel and Tourism in the 'Holy Lands,' 1870–1950." This special issue, co-edited by Sarah Irving, Karène Sanchez-Summerer, and Sary Zananiri, considers different aspects of tourism in Palestine in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The issue comprises a foreword by the three guest editors and four articles by Micaela Sahhar, Chloe Emmott, Yair Wallach, and Sarah Irving.
The Society for the History of Children and Youth (SHCY) is pleased to call for nominations for the best book in English on the history of children, childhood, or youth (broadly construed) published in 2023.

The Eleventh Annual Symposium on Medieval and Renaissance Studies (SMRS), June 10-12, 2024, is a convenient summer venue in North America for scholars to present papers, organize sessions, participate in roundtables, and engage in interdisciplinary discussion. The goal of the Symposium is to promote serious scholarly investigation into all topics and in all disciplines of medieval and Renaissance studies.
