We are looking for scholars (broadly defined) to join a panel on "Populism in American Politics." The panel is for the American Political History Conference Reconstructing Democracy: Power, Politics, and Participation (June 6-8, 2024) at Vanderbilt University. The conference aims to bring historical research and historical thinking to understanding contemporary challenges to democracy and launch conversations about the contemporary meaning and uses of history.
The Department of History at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month position at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the history of Africa, beginning August 2024. The period and region of specialization are open, but with preference for scholars whose work focuses on sub-Saharan Africa. The successful applicant will contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate curricula; this will include teaching an African history survey and either half of the World History surveys.
We are currently seeking applications for anonymized peer reviewers to review chapters in the forthcoming book Platform Power and Libraries, an edited research monograph being published by Litwin Books/Library Juice Press in 2024.
About the book
Sacred springs and holy wells are found around the globe in Indigenous spiritual traditions and international faiths. These sites' sacred topographies often make them nodes of Biocultural Diversity. This conference invites exchange about how these Sacred Natural Sites are understood across disciplines, and what their study can teach us for local ecosystem care and socio-ecological resilience in the climate crisis.
Happy Fall, Y'all!

What does it mean to manage public lands, environmental resources, waterways, and marine environments? How does the language of management situate people in relation to the ecosystems upon which they depend? What technologies, affects, aesthetics, environments, individuals, power dynamics, poetics, or practices come to mind when we think about land and water management? And how might the arts and humanities enable us to create a more inclusive discourse that envisions new management practices and policies that center justice, environmental attunement, good relations, and even love?
