The Institute for Mediterranean Studies/FORTH and the Research Project GHOST: Geographies and Histories of the Ottoman Supernatural Tradition: Exploring Magic, the Marvelous, and the Strange in Ottoman Mentalities, European Research Council Consolidator Grant 771766, are happy to announce an international conference on "Knowing and controlling nature in Ottoman culture: scientific and occultist approaches in a global perspective". The conference will take place in Rethymno, Greece in November 16-18, 2023.
We are pleased to announce that volume 5 of the Journal of Festive Studies has been published. It includes two special, guest-edited sections: “Event Horizons” edited by Graham St John and Sarah Pike and “Party Tourism” edited by Alix Boirot. The Senior Program Coordinator will play a vital role in the successful operation of the Grant Center for the American Jewish Experience at Tulane University. This center is renowned for its exceptional Jewish learning programs, which aim to provide a comprehensive and innovative study of American Jews. The Senior Program Coordinator, you will be the logistics lead for co a wide range of public, scholarly, and internal programming initiatives. This includes organizing the logistics of events, workshops, and lectures that promote a deeper understanding of the American Jewish experience.
The Perilman Post-Doctoral Fellowship provides a stipend of $65,000 per year, as well as benefits, for one full year with an option for a second year renewal. The Fellow will be expected to be in residence, to conduct research in Duke's library and archival collections, to participate actively in the intellectual life of the university, to teach a Fall semester course over one year, or three semester courses over two years, and to give a public lecture on their research. The Fellow may not undertake any other sustained teaching or employment during his/her tenure at Duke.

The panel is for the American Political History Conference Reconstructing Democracy: Power, Politics, and Participation (June 6-8, 2024) at Vanderbilt University. The conference aims to bring historical research and historical thinking to understanding contemporary challenges to democracy and launch conversations about the contemporary meaning and uses of history.
