Call for Papers: Southern Forum on Agricultural, Rural, and Environmental History April 12-13, 2024.
The Southern Forum on Agricultural, Rural, and Environmental History (SFARE) is now accepting proposals for its annual meeting, to be held at the University of Georgia’s Center for Research and Education at Wormsloe and at Georgia Southern University in Savannah, Georgia, April 12-13, 2024.
The online event constitutes a reflective exercise concerning the boundaries that delineate history and journalism. It focuses on exploring the similarities and differences that define these realms of knowledge. It is intended for students and individuals with an interest in history, communication, journalism, and related disciplines.
The country house is known across Europe for its grand interiors and elite lifestyle, but heritage professionals and historians have increasingly noted the everyday activities and consumption practices that under-pinned life at the country house. This workshop will explore the ways in which servants, who formed the majority of the inhabitants in any country house, fitted into these processes.
The deadline for submissions for the Professor Hasan-Uddin Khan Article Award in Islamic Architecture is fast approaching. Please remember to send in nominations by 15 November 2023.
CFP: Imagination Today: Between Theory and Practice of Phantasia (updated)
A special issue of the journal Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities in 2026 will delve into the challenging debates abundant in 20th and 21st-century continental philosophy about the place of imagination not only in aesthetics, but also in metaphysics, epistemology, and practical philosophy, as well as its importance in the separate, yet intricately connected domains of literary theory, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, and the behavioral sciences.
NEOS: A Peer-Reviewed Publication of the Anthropology of Children and Youth Interest Group is seeking volunteers for a number of positions. We especially need to refresh our list of Peer Reviewers. Peer reviewers are vital to our process and help us to maintain supportive processes for our authors and high standards for publication. Our submissions are usually short-form research articles (of ~1200 words) and we provide clear guidelines for peer reviewers to make the role manageable and easy to follow.
