CALL FOR PAPERS
GAM.17 – Wood: Rethinking Material
In the age of global climate crisis, new meaning is being ascribed to wood as a classic architectural
building material. The potential it holds for a climate-friendly construction industry—as an alternative
to energy-intensive building materials like steel or concrete—has already been substantiated by
numerous studies1 and by a multitude of projects actualized in urban space. The climatologist Hans
Joachim Schellnhuber feels that timber construction provides us with an opportunity to “build
Animal fear is a common phenomenon among humans, affecting children and adults alike. Previous studies have found that up to 40% of children in Australia suffer from a fear of animals such as spiders and snakes. While in the USA, 22% of adults report fear of snakes and 13% report a fear of dogs.
The Center for Oral History is pleased to announce that it's oral history training institute will be going online this year.
A previous call for submissions was posted soliciting full papers on the subject of fashion and motherhood for FSJ: The Fashion Studies Journal, an open-source online journal in the interdisciplinary field of fashion studies. In light of the cancellation of the SCWH’s June 2020 Conference, we have decided to move our conference, hopefully with much of our program intact, to June 17-19, 2021, in Raleigh, North Carolina. We’re still working out details about the program and the hotel, but we wanted our members to get this news, as quickly as possible, so you could begin to make your plans. Of course, like of all of you, we are mindful of how tentative our planning continues to be in the time of this pandemic, but we remain hopeful that the meeting can go forward next June.
Extension of Deadline for Supermodels of the World symposium CfP to 22nd June 2020
Due to disruptions caused by Corona virus, we have extended the deadline for abstracts for the September symposium, Supermodels of the World: RuPaul’s Drag Race as International Phenomenon. In light of recent events, we would also encourage delegates wishing to participate remotely. Dependent on further developments, this may become our primary method for all to engage in this one day discussion. We will, of course, update accordingly.

Dear colleagues,
Because of Covid-19, we have decided to postpone the Spaces of Anger(s) Past conference which was supposed to take place on 23-25 September 2020 at Radboud University Nijmegen to the Fall of 2021. Although September 2020 is still a few months away, we feel that the circumstances are too unpredictable to continue planning for the conference.
