I am pulling together an Edited Collection called Mobilizing Narratives: Narrating (Im)Mobility Injustice and I would like to invite you to consider submitting a chapter.
The abstract/call for the Collection is here:
Pain and pleasure are often regarded as a corporal continuum, with the body functioning as a staging ground for action, stimulated and penetrated, and prone to “synesthetic corporal interaction” (Burgwinkle and Howie 2010: 106). Both in research and in the popular imagination, pain and pleasure have predominantly been understood as the antagonists of one another and have received most attention as forces motivating our behaviour in opposite directions: we aim to avoid pain and seek pleasure – supposedly not both at the same time.
Coming some three years after the death of the Nobel-prizewinning poet, playwright, painter and teacher, a book is planned as a tribute to Derek Walcott (1930-2017). The editors welcome all forms of tribute - critical essays, memoirs and creative work of all kinds - addressing any aspect of Derek Walcott's life and work.
Did you defend your dissertation during the 2019 calendar year? Or do you know someone who did? The Society of Civil War Historians has extended the deadline to submit applications for the Anne J. Bailey Dissertation Prize to May 15th. Apply today!
EDITOR, JOURNAL OF AUSTRIAN STUDIES
CALL FOR STATEMENTS OF INTEREST
The flagship publication of the Austrian Studies Association, and an interdisciplinary quarterly with a half-century lineage, The Journal of Austrian Studies publishes scholarly work on all aspects of the history and culture of Austria, Austria-Hungary, and the Habsburg territory.
Published at the height of the imperial enterprise, Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897) has a long and intricate backstory. It is, in fact, the result of centuries of British discovery of and disappointment with the world. One by one, naturalists, amateur anthropologists, merchants, soldiers, diplomats or missionaries from the British Isles discovered the world for the armchair travelers at home and built up their self-esteem by disfiguring countries and regions in writings, paintings, and lectures at the Royal Geographical Society.

We are seeking contributors for an open access edited volume, published with E-International Relations that will build on recent Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research to showcase a range of International Relations (IR) teaching and learning frameworks. A critical contribution arising from SoTL has been that effective teaching varies across academic disciplines and departments.
