In order to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising, and to contribute to the process of national reflection that is currently in progress, the Irish Defence Forces, in conjunction with the Centre for Military History and Strategic Studies Centre at Maynooth University and the Trinity College Dublin Centre for Contemporary Irish History, will host a one-day conference in Dublin Castle on 15 October 2016 with aim of exploring the ‘Emergence of Modern Ireland, 1912-2016’.
