This panel seeks papers that consider the many ways in which contemporary Francophone authors and filmmakers represent the performance of gender and/or sexuality within their work. How do these texts reveal, challenge, and resist dominant domestic and hexagonal conceptualizations of either element or both? For the purposes of this panel, and given the numerous possible conceptualizations of performance, we seek to examine the various and varied ways performance is employed as an analytic.
