Resource-related conflicts have raged in Nigeria for decades. Notable ones include the Niger Delta crises, the Boko Haram insurgency, agitations for an Independent Republic of Biafra, breakaway calls from other sections of the country, and Fulani Herdsmen troubles. Thousands of lives have been lost in these conflicts in the last two decades, vast territories devastated and depopulated, infrastructures destroyed, and millions of Nigerians displaced.
