Historians of Eighteenth-Century Art and Architecture (HECAA) Emerging Scholars Showcase

We at HECAA are thrilled to invite emerging scholars studying the art, architecture, and visual culture of the long eighteenth century around the globe to participate in our 2024 virtual showcase. A beloved HECAA tradition, the showcase is intended as a platform for emerging scholars to connect with the wider HECAA community and get feedback on their research.
The National Endowment for the Humanities and Arizona State University are delighted to solicit applications for a two-week residential Institute entitled Translation and Traveling Texts: East Asian National Literatures in an Era Without Borders. Running from Monday, June 17th to Friday, June 28th, 2024, and held in-person at ASU’s Tempe Campus in the Phoenix metropolitan area, this Institute will invite twenty-five faculty members and/or doctoral students from institutions of higher education to join us in Tempe.
Nominations Open: Alcohol and Drug History Association (ADHS) Dissertation Prize

The award and stipend of $1,000 is given at each bi-ennial ADHS conference for outstanding work in the historical study of alcohol and/or drugs, as demonstrated by the completion of the Ph.D. and a proposal to turn the dissertation into a publishable monograph.

Extension of the deadline for proposals
This panel will analyse the ruler's decision-making in ancient texts in order to understand the dominant causes of the process. Does he always act in the interests of the people for whom he is responsible? Rulers often emphasise a conflict between external pressures and what appear to be their feelings, trying to use discourse to convince others of their points of view. This testifies to the presence of the function of language in shaping thought.
Reflecting on culture, heritage and citizenship in the making of the Black Atlantic and 'postcolonial' Americas, we are pleased to announce a 2024 Black Diversities virtual seminar on January 26 @ 10am-1pm EST / 11am-2pm AST.
We are seeking original research articles for a special issue or cluster of articles of Slavic Review dedicated to disability in Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. Any geographic/chronological focus and methodological approach is welcome. Deadlines: abstract of 250 words due by May 1, 2024; selected papers due by October 1, 2014. Complete submissions of approximately 11,000 words (out of which 8,000 are text words and 3,000 are footnote words) should follow the journal’s publication guidelines and will go through a rigorous blind peer-review process.
