In Latin American historiography there is still much research to be done in order to recuperate the heterogeneous histories of childhood, not only as an area into which adults have projected utopian hopes of a better future, but also as a field in which the worst forms of dominance, exclusion and violence manifest themselves. Throughout Latin American history, children have often been marginalized subjects exposed to multiple forms of violence – from the microcosm of the family to the macrocosm of society.

The Performance Working Group calls for proposals in conversation with the 2018 Cultural Studies Association Conference theme of “Interventions.” Proposals for individual papers, full panels, and roundtables that engage the conference theme through performance and performance theory are invited along with other activist and artistic interventions.
